Madison Specs Presents At Amper's Tax Department Training Seminar

Madison’s Program for the Noted Accounting Firm Focused on the Bottom-Line Impact of Cost Segregation Studies

LAKEWOOD, N.J., Feb. 9, 2010 – There are many tools for business and property owners to use to generate tax benefits to maximize cash flow, not the least of which are cost segregation studies, and a struggling economy only increases the urgency. That was the message delivered at a recent seminar presented by Madison SPECS, LLC to CPAs representing six regional offices of noted accounting firm Amper, Politiziner & Mattia.

"The importance of cost segregation's role in reducing tax liabilities and improving cash flow cannot be understated," said Eli Loebenberg, CPA, CEO of Madison SPECS, the cost segregation division of Madison Commercial Real Estate Services (MCRES), who presented the seminar. "Because of the extreme importance of that subject in the current economy, Amper invited us to provide professionals of the firm's taxation department with the latest insight on how to assist their clients in arriving at a better balance sheet."

"We spoke to more than 80 CPAs in the Amper organization," said Elliot Zaks, MCRES founder and director of operations. "The program also included an opportunity for the CPAs to ask questions pertaining to their clients' specific circumstances. On an ongoing basis, we partner with countless CPA firms that look to us as subject matter experts for them and their clients."

"One of the tax planning topics we always discuss with our clients is cost segregation studies, so the seminar was very timely," said Dan Gibson, partner at Amper. "Assisting clients in accelerating depreciation to lower taxes and increase cash flow is extremely beneficial. All levels of our firm's tax department benefited from this presentation, which provided a great understanding of the topic."

As Cost Segregation is a tax and engineering concept, many accounting firms, who do not have engineers on staff, look to work with outside shops who specialize in this tax concept. This ensures the most benefit is generated for their clients. Madison SPECS fills that need with its in-house staff of engineers, tax experts, and accountants dedicated to performing Cost Segregation studies. This gives confidence to the accounting firm whom they are working with that they have one place to go to get all of their questions answered.

MCRES is well-known for its educational outreach efforts, and to facilitate those efforts, the firm launched its Madison Learning Center (MLC) in July, 2009. The division conducts a systematic program of seminars, webinars, blogs, newsletters and informational materials, offered nationwide by highly trained professionals.

"The success of our clients is paramount," said Zaks. "We continue to be fully committed to providing continuing education and professional development programs to accomplish that goal.
